How to schedule Bluesky posts
Bluesky takes an app password. The steps below are from Connect Threads and Bluesky and the scheduling guide. Sync Socials holds the post until the time you set, then a background worker publishes it.
- In the Bluesky app, open Settings → Privacy and security → App passwords and add one named Sync Socials. Copy the password it shows. It looks like
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. - In Connections, open the Bluesky card, paste the app password, and enter your handle, like
you.bsky.social. - In the composer, write the post and select the Bluesky account. Show all options can set a different caption for that destination. Blank fields fall back to the shared caption.
- Enter a date and time, or use the suggested slots. Times use the workspace timezone shown beside the field. Schedule queues the post. Publish now sends it immediately. Save draft keeps it with no time.
Scheduled posts show on the Calendar. Drag one to reschedule it, or edit it until it starts publishing. See timezones and scheduled times.
Never use your main Bluesky password. To disconnect, remove the account in Connections or revoke the app password in Bluesky. A free workspace can connect one account per platform. Growth includes up to 20 per platform, and Agency up to 50.
Bluesky text, images, and limits
- Text. Up to 300 characters.
- Photos. Up to 4 images. Links and hashtags are sent as Bluesky links and tags.
- Image size. Images are compressed for Bluesky's 1 MB limit automatically. A very large image may still need to be resized before upload.
- Video. Not supported yet.
- Uploads. The media library accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF up to 25 MB per image, and up to 10 files per upload. Bluesky still applies its own 4-image and 1 MB limits when the post is sent.
The help center documents a single text or photo post. It does not document scheduling a chain of replies, and it does not document alt text. This page does not claim either one. Tags in the composer are appended as hashtags where the platform supports them. On Bluesky, links and hashtags are sent as proper links and tags.
The billing guide lists analytics for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. It does not list Bluesky analytics. Posted still records whether the destination was delivered, failed, or still processing. See media requirements and why a post fails.
Draft and schedule Bluesky with an assistant
The ChatGPT app and the Claude plugin list Bluesky as a live destination that connects with an app password. Connect Bluesky in Connections before you ask an assistant to schedule it. Connecting the assistant does not connect Bluesky, and you should not paste the app password into a chat.
The MCP server guide does not list Bluesky as an API-key destination. Confirm the account in your workspace before you rely on an API-key agent to post there. ChatGPT and Claude Chat or Cowork use account authorization and do not need an API key. See the agent overview.
A free workspace can save drafts. Scheduling and publishing start the 7-day trial. Keep captions within 300 characters. Claude uses existing images and does not generate them. Do not ask an assistant to attach a video for Bluesky. Video is not supported yet.
Save this caption as an untargeted Sync Socials draft: “A small update that makes the everyday easier.” Name it “Bluesky draft.” Do not schedule or publish it.
Schedule my approved “Bluesky draft” to the Bluesky account I selected on October 15, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. America/New_York. Keep the caption within 300 characters and the images unchanged. Do not add video. Show me the saved schedule.

If Agency is not offered on your Billing page yet, the billing guide says it is still rolling out. Email [email protected] and support can set it up. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid a charge.
