How to schedule Threads posts
Threads connects through Meta's own sign-in. The steps below are from Connect Threads and Bluesky and the scheduling guide.
- Open Connections and choose Connect Threads.
- Sign in with the Instagram account that owns the Threads profile and allow the requested permissions.
- In the composer, write the post and select the Threads account. You can use a shared caption, or Show all options for a different caption on that destination. Blank fields fall back to the shared caption.
- Enter a date and time, or use the suggested slots. Times use the workspace timezone shown beside the field. Schedule queues the post. Publish now sends it immediately. Save draft keeps it with no time.
A background worker publishes each destination separately. Scheduled posts show on the Calendar. Drag one to reschedule it, or edit it until it starts publishing. See timezones and scheduled times.
The connection lasts about 60 days and renews itself while you keep using it. If it shows Needs reconnect, connect again. Sync Socials does not ask for a Threads password. You sign in with the Instagram account that owns the profile.
What a Threads post can include
- Text. Up to 500 characters. Hashtags count toward the 500 characters.
- Photos. Up to 10 images.
- Video. Videos are supported. The help center describes text, photo posts, and videos as the formats Threads accepts.
- Tags. In the composer, tags are appended as hashtags where the platform supports them. On Threads, those hashtags count toward the 500-character limit.
- Uploads. JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF up to 25 MB per image. Video: MP4, M4V, or MOV up to 250 MB. MOV files are converted to H.264 MP4. Up to 10 files per upload.
The help center does not document scheduling a reply, a chain of posts, a separate topic-tag field, or a post that mixes images and video in one carousel. It also does not list Threads analytics. The billing guide lists analytics for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Posted still records delivery for each destination. See media requirements and why a post fails.
Draft and schedule Threads with an assistant
The ChatGPT app and the Claude plugin list Threads for workspaces where Threads access is enabled. Connect Threads in Connections before you ask an assistant to schedule it. Connecting the assistant does not connect Threads.
The MCP server guide does not list Threads as an API-key destination. Confirm the accounts in your workspace before you rely on an API-key agent to post there. ChatGPT and Claude Chat or Cowork use account authorization and do not need an API key.
A free workspace can save drafts. Scheduling and publishing start the 7-day trial. Ask the assistant to keep the caption within 500 characters, including hashtags.
Save this caption as an untargeted Sync Socials draft: “A small update that makes the everyday easier.” Name it “Threads draft.” Do not schedule or publish it.
Schedule my approved “Threads draft” to the Threads account I selected on October 15, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. America/New_York. Keep the caption within 500 characters, including hashtags. Keep the media unchanged. Show me the saved schedule.
Claude uses existing images and videos. It does not generate images, footage, speech, or music. Text concepts need a workspace AI provider and use that provider's allowance. Content Studio can save a caption and hashtags as a draft. Nothing is scheduled until you approve it. See Content Studio and your own AI key and the agent overview.
